Congratulations to Mark-Teasdale Edwards, the 2024 LAKER of Distinction Lifetime Achievement Award winner!

Skaneateles Alumni Mark Teasdale-Edwards wins 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award

The LAKER of Distinction Lifetime Achievement Award was created to honor the Skaneateles School District alum who best exemplifies LAKER qualities and characteristics and has maintained a strong connection to the Skaneateles community.  Candidates for nomination must demonstrate a commitment to the LAKER values of Leadership, Accountability, Kindness, Effort, and Respect in their life's work. They must demonstrate a strong connection and contribution to the local Skaneateles community.

Mark ('82) is a restaurateur with over 40 years of business experience and the current owner of Doug's Fish Fry Skaneateles. Mark started as Doug Clark’s very first customer and a member of the first team and has grown this beloved Skaneateles fish fry into a nationally acclaimed destination. Since the beginning, he has consistently employed, trained, and supported a tremendous number of Skaneateles students and alumni, some of whom are still with him today.

Doug Clark, our famous local entrepreneur, taught Mark valuable and life-long lessons on running a successful restaurant with a focus on community involvement. Together they built the business into the nationally recognized "first place that people return home to," and "the best place in CNY to get fish fry," that has made countless ‘Best of’ lists all while prioritizing their commitment to the Skaneateles community.

Mark has an outstanding record of philanthropy and support having contributed to the projects and initiatives of the Skaneateles Area Chamber Of Commerce, the Baltimore Woods Nature Center, the Skaneateles Community Center, the Skaneateles Volunteer Fire Department, The Skaneateles Festival, the Skaneateles Community Band, the Katie Socci Field at Everest Park and many others.

Mark is the son of Shirley Edwards, a retired Skaneateles teacher and the late John Edwards. Mark lives in Sennett with his wife, Katherine M. Teasdale-Edwards ('92), and has two daughters, Holly ('22) and Hailey ('24).

Congratulations, Mark! You, your team and Doug’s Fish Fry make Skaneateles proud.

Come celebrate Mark and all of our alums at the Toast to the Lakers Event on Friday, April 5th at the Lodge in Skaneateles. It will be a wonderful evening and it's for a fantastic cause - our kids and their education!
