Skaneateles alum, Eric Freedman wins Business and Professional Outstanding Achievement Award

Congratulations to Eric Freedman ('94), the 2024 Alumni Business and Professional Outstanding Achievement Award winner!

Eric Freedman (‘94), is the Chief Investment Officer for U.S. Bank, the country's fifth-largest bank by assets. Eric oversees the investment activities for institutional and individual clients totaling $550 billion. Throughout his career, Eric has been a featured guest on media outlets worldwide including Bloomberg, CNBC, Fox Business News, the Wall Street Journal, NPR, and other outlets. 

Eric graduated from Colgate University and was the captain of Colgate's lacrosse team. He was selected to play in the 1999 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's North/South game in addition to being an all-Patriot League team selection. Eric went on to receive an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 2009. 

Eric has long been involved in community service, values instilled in him by his parents (the late John T. and Mary Margaret Freedman) and the Skaneateles community, especially St Marys of The Lake. Eric was a Rotary Exchange Student to Denmark from 1992-1993 and was involved with several service-based clubs in high school including Interact and Teen Institute. 

Eric was a volunteer lacrosse coach for coach Ron Doctor's Skaneateles summer lacrosse camp and in college won the John H. Paige Memorial Award for Athletic and Community Leadership in 1997. Eric has since volunteered as a coach and referee, a member and Chair of the Diocese of Raleigh investment committee, a member of the American Banker's Association investment committee, the Board of Directors of the Ronald McDonald House of Chapel Hill, and is a past advisory member of DiversityQ.

Eric is the son of Dr. John T. and Mary Margaret Freedman and the brother of John Freedman ('91). The family set up the Freedman Fund at the Skaneateles Education Foundation, Inc. in Dr. Freedman's name, and is used to enhance programs and initiatives that address the wellness curriculum, mental health, and well-being of all students across the district.

Eric resides in Chapel Hill, North Carolina with his wife Jamie. Eric and Jamie have three children, Hailey, Elle, and Conner.
