Class of '51 Fund
In 2006, Class of 1951, partnered with the Skaneateles Education Foundation (“SEF”) to establish a permanently restricted endowment fund (“the Class of '51 Fund”) whose purpose is to help financially disadvantaged students attending Skaneateles Central Schools. Examples of needs that the Class of ’51 Fund meets include, but are by no means limited to, helping students facing financial hardships to participate in class trips and field trips, pay application fees for college applications or tests, purchase necessary supplies or equipment, and participate in curriculum-based activities. The Class of ’51 Fund aims to level the playing field for students in Skaneateles whose families face financial challenges.
SEF maintains the principal of the Class of ’51 Fund in an investment account. At the start of each school year, up to 5% of the fund's market value is provided as a lump sum to the District for distribution. The amount of money provided to the District differs depending on the fund’s market value at the end of the previous fiscal year.
The District provides SEF with a report of the number, type, and amounts of grants made. In compliance with student privacy laws, no personally identifying information regarding any student or family is included. The report is entirely anonymous.

In consultation with students, teachers, and administrators, the District will determine applicants and grants. Grants may be provided to all grade levels.
We believe in the potential of every student, that with the right support and resources, they can achieve their dreams and make a positive impact in the world.
